Qujing Western Area Development Plan
Description:
Qujing is the second largest city in Yunnan Province, about 130km east of Kunming. The prefecture has a total population of about 6 mio. inhabitants of which only around 0.7 mio are urban residents.
Several key infrastructure projects such as the new high-speed railway line between Chengdu and Nanning by the year 2015, that makes the trip betwenn Kunming and Qujing only 30 minutes long, will boost considerably the urban development in Qujing. The Prefecture Government has therefore invited several international urban planning & design teams to propose conceptual ideas about the urban expansion in the Western area of Qujing, which is characterized by a hilly topography and many natural forest areas, which are used for leisure and tourism activities.
LEP is cooperating for this project with Kunming Urban Planning and Design Institute (KUPDI).
