Napier – One of the most significant urban development land sales recorded in Hawke’s Bay on New Zealand’s North Island has been agreed. Some 207 hectares of farmland are set to be transformed into residential homes, upmarket lifestyle blocks and environmental parkland.

The biggest and most significant development land sale recorded in Hawke’s Bay for decades has been agreed, announced New Zealand-based Scoop Media in an article. A consortium of New Zealand property developers is set to take on the project in the Mission Hills area, which will be located on 207 hectares of grazing farmland with scenic views.

The preliminary development plans include around 550 residential homes and 60 hectares of upmarket lifestyle block residences, as well as a small retail hub and environmental parkland with a community walk and cycling network. There could also be a supermarket and a medical centre.

Lead salesperson Kerry Geange, of Bayleys Hawke’s Bay, which brokered the deal, told Scoop Media that the sheer scale of the greenfield development block would meet a “significant forecast demand for residential population growth in the Hawke’s Bay region”.

The sale is expected to settle within the next 12 months. Purchaser consortium member Jonathan Wallace of Wallace Development Company told Scoop Media he expects construction to begin in spring 2023.
