Qujing-Nanpan Eastern Area Development Plan
Description:
Qujing is the second largest city in Yunnan Province, about 130km east of Kunming. The prefecture has a total population of about 6 mio. inhabitants of which only around 0.7 mio are urban residents.
Several key infrastructure projects such as the new high-speed railway line between Chengdu and Nanning by the year 2015, that makes the trip betwenn Kunming and Qujing only 30 minutes long, will boost considerably the urban development in Qujing. The Prefecture Government has therefore invited several international urban planning & design teams to propose conceptual ideas about the urban expansion in the Eastern area of Qujing along Nanpan river, which is so far dominated by agriculture land use.
LEP is cooperating for this project with the Department of Urban Planning of Kunming University of Science and Technology (KMUST) as well as with Beijing Tsinghua Tongheng Urban Planning and Design Institute (THUPDI).
