Delhi – Delhi has published a roadmap for the future development of the city. Known as the Delhi Master Plan 2041, it focuses on tackling pollution and developing a sustainable and safe city, with housing for all and improved water quality.

Delhi’s master plan is a roadmap for the future development of the city, according to an article in newspaper Indian Express. It assesses the present condition of the city and envisions a more “sustainable, liveable, safe and inclusive capital with housing for all and better economic opportunities”.

Its key points include developing a greener environment, enhanced mobility promoting cleaner fuels, and addressing the housing needs of the poor. The draft Master Plan of Delhi 2041 is currently inviting public suggestions and objections.

“The government has increased the focus on urban development by embarking upon a comprehensive programme for planned urban development in 2041, designed to bring about a transformative change in the lives of people with inclusive, participative and sustainable approach,” reads the draft plan.

It also includes measures to tackle air, water and noise pollution. There are plans to improve water quality via tasks such as checking the outfall of untreated wastewater, as well as measures like self-sustained isolated residential areas to deal with pandemics.

The plan will be collectively implemented by all the agencies involved in the development of Delhi, according to the article. This includes the central government, service providers, landowning agencies, regulators and local bodies.
