Around 97.5 million Swiss francs has been proposed for gradual development of the innovation park. Planning credit is being requested for the airfield.

The cantonal government of the canton of Zurich has presented three submissions to the cantonal parliament for development of the airfield area in Dübendorf, the state chancellery of the canton of Zurich has announced in a press release. These are based on a synthesis report from the cantonal government that was referred to the cantonal parliament in November 2021. The further planning and implementation work is to be put into action using the three submissions.

The first submission is a partial revision to the cantonal structure plan coordinated based on the synthesis report. According to the state chancellery, it is in line with the final cantonal design plan for the Innovation Park Zurich, based on which planning applications can be submitted. The partial revision specifies the planning benchmarks for the planned Innovation Park Zurich.

With the second submission, the cantonal government is applying to the cantonal parliament for 97.45 million Swiss francs for gradual development of the innovation park. From this, a total of 44 million Swiss francs is to be issued in the form of loans. According to the press release, the innovation park should additionally be developed “step-by-step, meeting users’ needs, and in an environmentally friendly way”, which also further minimizes financial risks.

The third submission envisages a further 8.2 million Swiss francs for planning the research, testing, and airfield location in Dübendorf. As well as deciding on the submissions, the cantonal parliament will also consider whether the canton plans to play an active part in the use of the area for aviation or not according to the state chancellery.
