It showcases the latest technologies for creating sustainable and efficient smart cities. Egypt’s digital strategy involves the implementation of 17 smart cities.

The German technology company Siemens AG has opened Egypt's first Smart Cities Experience Center. Located at the Siemens head office in Cairo, the center aims to show visitors the benefits of transforming current communities into smart cities. They can observe the latest smart infrastructure technologies for buildings and cities, such as energy management, intelligent power distribution solutions, and utilities management systems for water, gas, and electricity, according to a statement.

H.E. Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, described the inauguration of the Smart Cities Experience Center as an “important breakthrough” for Egypt’s digital development strategy, which involves the implementation of 17 smart cities. “We encourage the role of the private sector in the state’s comprehensive development process by using all aspects of emerging technologies and innovations to enable a fully integrated and efficient smart city platform,” he said.

For Mostafa El-Bagoury, CEO of Siemens Egypt, the new center “accelerates the journey to a digital economy through smart electrification and building automation". He expressed confidence in the facility to provide “valuable hands-on experience for the government, its agencies, private developers, and infrastructure consultants".

Siemens has been a longstanding strategic partner to Egypt, writes the statement. It aims to “unlock the full potential of smart infrastructure” by optimizing operations, promoting new employment opportunities, and ensuring environmental sustainability. ce/em
